Ocean

I just saw this movie, and boy it’s really good food for my soul. Literally.

Dorothea William: there once this young fish, he came to an old fish and said, I want to see the Ocean, then the old fish replied, see the Ocean? My boy, you are in the ocean, then the young fish said, no, this all is just water. I want to see the Ocean.

The soul

My husband asked: what’s that supposed to mean? I replied that we are all living in this amazing life but instead of realize it, we usually act like the young fish, we want to see “the amazing life”, not this regular boring life of mine.

This movie also point out about what will happen when we become obsessed with “the zone”. I heard this zone theory about 5 years ago, with different name, “the flow”; When we are having it, Time feels like it has slowed down. … Popularized by positive psychologists Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi and Jeanne Nakamura, flow state describes a feeling where, under the right conditions, you become fully immersed in whatever you are doing.

It’s good when we enter the zone or the flow moments, we feel disconnected with everything around us, time is meaningless too, 5 hours feels like a blink of an eye. But to obsessed and continuously try to immerse yourself in that state is unhealthy.

Life offer us so many things and relationship to experience with, and it’s sad when we denies this offerings just because we chase this one big dream; then failures after failures hit and finally we conclude that our life is meaningless and useless.

What kind of life worth of living? I don’t know, the answer might be different for each of us, but starting today I will made my own definition about a life worth living, I will also questions the definition as often as possible.

I realized I am in the ocean now, so I’ll just keep swimming.

Cheers,
Karin Sabrina
