I successfully steered out a conversation about “diet” and beauty expectations today! And even .. dare I say, sparks a quiet revolution about woman beauty!
A colleague came to chat, and she said: I’m on a diet today.. but I want your crackers.. may I? And I simply said: of course darling. But then something in me was just not ready to let this conversation go down without me trying to say some ideas to her. So I started:
- Why so concerned about the quantity of food you eat? Why counting calories? Don’t you think it may be better if you’re focusing on eating nutritious food? How balanced is my current diet? I feel that we should eat with gratitude not with guilty feelings.
- Instead of trying endlessly: Diet program, Day 1. Why not try something like a wonder woman program: week 1= make time to work out a minimum of 150 mins this week. The saying goes: bone and muscles, if you don’t use it, you’ll lose it.
- Don’t you think all the ads are constantly telling us that everything on women is ridiculously wrong and you need a product to fix it?
I don’t know what that colleague thinks of me, and none of her thinking is my business anyway.. she’s still so young in her twenties… But hopefully… Hopefully… Something I said sparks something in her mind. Amen.
