I’m practicing silence is gold today. Not because I’m too scared to say what I want to say but because I’m learning something important but way too late (as usual). I know now that I don’t have to attend every invitation to argue, some debates are best to let go.
There’s a meeting today. I was invited to attend, and I sat in the meeting room, made notes here and there (in my head only) and at some point I said my opinion which was directly belittled by a colleague. And after that I was simply said, OK whatever suits you. And I can sense the room feel silent. I know I had a point to make and that colleague was trying to cover her insecurities. I had no intention to fix it and I just let things be. I said what I needed to say, if nothing changed, fine; at least the people in the meeting room knew my point.
There is a strange freedom in realizing that not every misunderstanding needs to be corrected, not every criticism deserves a response, and not every battle is worth winning.
Some circuses are meant to pass you by.
