Lunch time

I spent my lunch break with a new friend today. It was a good lunch.

It reminded me that, in any gathering, whether it’s a grand event or something as simple as sharing a meal with colleagues, the food or the venue is rarely what stays with us. I might forget what was on the menu. I might not even remember the café’s décor. But I will always remember how the conversation made me feel, the laughter we shared, or an interesting perspective that opened my mind just a little wider.

Food nourishes our body.

Connection nourishes our soul.

Perhaps that’s why, years later, we rarely say, *”Remember the sandwich?”* Instead, we remember the people who sat across from us, the stories they told, and how, for a brief moment, we felt seen, heard, and understood.

In the end, it isn’t the place that makes a gathering memorable.

It’s the feeling we bring home with us.
