For me running is like a coping mechanism. I choose running simply because you don’t need any pre-course to do it. Just a pair of running shoes and a track, off you go. Coping mechanism? So… You’re stressed out and then you run? Basically… Yes that’s what I did.
I started to mention running in 2019 in this blog… But I started seriously in 2022, what I mean by serious is that I run in two running events in 2022, a week apart. Each was a 10k. I was surprised my legs were still intact at that timeπ.
Running teaches me a lot about endurance, resilience, and consistency. You can’t fake your run, you need to learn to understand your own body. Different people run for different reasons and that’s the beauty of this sport. The snail pace runner, the mid pack runner, the elites, all running on the same track, all running to the finish line. Just like life.
I run mostly to calm my mind, to strengthen my heart and hopefully to maintain a healthy body and mind. These days my mind is not as loud as it used to be, and I am grateful for that.
Am I a better runner now?Β Well yes, a million light years from Sifan Hassan in terms of speed and technical, but way better than myself 3 years ago. And that’s my dear is also a great progress.
