Equanimity. A big word — and a strange one too. But I choose this word to be my focus for this month. Equanimity: being calm in the eye of the storm.
My theme for this year is Peace, and I think it fits perfectly with November.
I’ve come to realize that peace is not the absence of problems; peace is the ability to accept things beyond our control.
Peace is the calm that stays despite the storm.
It is the space — vast and patient — that allows everything to pass through us.
Peace is seeing the fire, the shedding, the difficult seasons as necessary parts of our growth.
It’s understanding that growth is never linear. It’s messy, uncomfortable, and never on schedule — everything unfolds in its own time.
So, equanimity it is.
I’ve found my calm in the middle of the storm. Yes, yes, the storms are still raging in my life. Unavoidable discomforts, unemployment, debts, uncertainty etc… but after enough storms, I know well that this too shall pass.
