Joyful

What brings you joy now?

“That’s today’s question, and I find myself struggling to answer. It’s clearly not the sunniest or most joyous midweek for me.” Then I searched the word ‘Joy’ in my previous posts to seek inspiration. What were the things that brought me joy in the past? Unsurprisingly those things were books and brownies or toasts with blueberry jam and a mug of piping hot black tea.

Okay, let’s try to keep things simple. What brings you joy now? A (partially) completed work, my 15-minute walk during lunch break, my choice of snack this afternoon (fruit cutlets), and this activity of writing in the blog – I am anxious if I haven’t made time to write in a day. Oh, and my guitar lesson tonight! Yep, I’m learning to play now, and just thinking about it makes me smile. My husband is the teacher who doesn’t know how to teach, and I’m the student who refuses to listen—what a great class! I am going to be able to play guitar soon! At least that’s the plan. My plan.

To look for joy in simple things means we will always have an abundance of supplies all the time. So today, I’ll savor the small joys—fruit cutlets, music, and this blog post. That’s more than enough. Maybe joy isn’t something we have to chase—it’s already here, waiting in the little things.

Cheers my dearest readers, may your supplies of joy always be abundant!
